Berwyn, IL May 3, 2010 – The Berwyn Development Corporation (BDC) was pleased to celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of Women’s Workout World (W3) on May 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. The ribbon-cutting event celebrated the completion of interior renovations at Women’s Workout World, a fitness center catering to the needs of women, located at 6342 W. Cermak Road. W3 held promotions and provided entertainment throughout the day to kick off the launch of their refreshed facility.
Through the support of the City of Berwyn and the BDC, Women’s Workout World completed interior construction renovations on its 10,000 square foot facility. Financed, in part, with Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funds, the project included demolition, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, paint and wallpaper, flooring, plumbing, and signage. The fitness facility required structural improvements in order to meet current codes. Mayor Robert Lovero stated, “TIF funds filled an important financial gap and allowed the business to stay in Berwyn’s Cermak Road commercial corridor rather than relocating to another community. This redevelopment is what Berwyn’s TIF programs are all about.”
“Even though the Berwyn facility has been through many remodels over the past years, this one has been a massive project. We wanted to give the members a beautiful new state-of-the-art facility offering a full range of classes and equipment,” stated Women’s Workout World President and CEO, Shari Whitley.
Whitley continued, “The TIF project made these improvements possible so that we could focus on a new décor package and update the interior of the club. Teaming up with the City and the BDC allowed Women’s Workout World the opportunity to concentrate on giving the Berwyn members the very latest in fitness. For example, this location will feature a Boflex hardwood group fitness floor, which offers progressive resilience for safety, performance and shock absorption,” added Whitley.
The Berwyn W3 club features a spacious layout filled with a full range of cardiovascular and strength training equipment. The club also offers personal training services, group fitness programs and child care. Whitley has concentrated on developing new and innovative classes, including BodySync, Kickin’Core Ball, Hardbody, Zumba, Turbo Kick and PiYo. The club also offers a variety of membership plans including short term memberships. “Our goal is keep fitness affordable so women from all walks of life can participate in a good fitness program. With our unprecedented service and non-intimidating atmosphere, we have helped women from the Chicagoland area stay physically fit for 28 years,” added Whitley.
